Its a wonderful feeling

For pretty much my entire life I have struggled with my weight and the way I feel about my body, since I was a little girl my weight has yo yo’d to the point of being obese as well as underweight, there was a point in my life where I firmly believed that you had to be thin to be beautiful and for people to like you.

I know now that that is all utter hogwash, you don’t need to be thin to be beautiful or to love yourself what you need is to be happy within yourself, healthy and confident.

At this point in my life which has not been the easiest I will be honest I truly feel that I am at my most confident, there are off days in between but otherwise I like my body and I am happy with who I am I feel healthy, confident and above all comfortable within my own body which is something I have never known even at my smallest I hated my body and felt it wasn’t good enough, now post 3 kids I feel that I have developed a better relationship, appreciation and understanding of the beauty of a human body that I never had, I look at the stretch marks, the lumps and bumps and I am proud, when my hubby tells me I’m beautiful I don’t push him away I smile, it’s a wonderful feeling and it is something I wish for every woman, because the truth is there is beauty in everyone and everything you may not see what others see but it is there and it’s all about learning to appreciate and love yourself for the beauty that you ignite in others as much as yourself.

I am so incredibly happy to have reached this point in my life, I feel great, I feel loved and I think that it shows, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and that you take the time to look and appreciate the love and beauty within yourself and that which you inspire in others!

Attempting to Detox… Day 2

I decided to try and detox my system this week because my skin has been looking bad again, and I have just not been feeling great and I know the fact that I have strayed from healthy eating definitely has a lot to do with it, so I thought its time to get my butt back in to gear now with Summer on the way it will be easier to eat light, drink water etc….

Now when I say detox I don’t mean juicing or cutting down to the bare minimum I just mean that I want to get back to making healthier choices, so whilst it is not a complete detox my system is still going to give me hell for rejecting all the junk I have been consuming over the last few weeks.

So I started yesterday and this is how my day went…

I skipped breakfast (not uncommon I hate breakfast), had a packet of yoghurt peanuts for a snack, drank a ton of water, skipped lunch (not intentional forgot my spinach dish at home), drank more water and then got home and wolfed down said spinach and left over babootie from my mom…. then had a slice of red velvet for dessert… eish…Epic fail… but it was red velvet and my mom made it I just couldn’t resist… not the best start oh well better luck today.

So far I feel pretty crappy, tired but I think that has a lot to do with the dam heat wave that has hit us, anyone else absolutely detest summer like I do?

It makes me want to curl up and disappear until April!

Iv'e fallen down but I will get back up!

So I have been fighting against doing this post for the last week but after reading another post on one of my favourite local blogs I have decided to do it….

Remember when I wrote that post about Breaking Things off with the Scale, I spoke about my new healthy path, one where I no longer cared to weigh myself because it’s not about the numbers on that scale it is about being a healthier me and being happy within myself…

Well I have put that post to shame….

Cancer awareness and a very sad month

October is the worst month for me not only is it Breast Cancer Awareness Month but it is also the month in which Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Awareness Day falls and I always get very down and seem to hide away until the month is over, so I apologize If I don't blog much this month.

My grandmother passed on the 22nd of October, this year will be the 3rd year since her passing from Cancer, my grandfather passed away from Cancer when I was 7 years old.

Breaking things off with my scale

So I know a lot of people will look at this title with some confusion yes I am comparing a human relationship to that which one shares with an everyday weight scale, it may seem stupid or ridiculous but give me a moment to explain and you will see why they are so similar.

A relationship can do many things, it can make your day or break it, it can build you up or bring you down, it can be an obsession or a casual thing…. See where I am going with this.

The same can be said for a scale, one simple number on that piece of metal or plastic can make or break your day, it can make you feel top of the world beaming with self-confidence or it demoralize you and stamp your confidence into the ground, it can also be something you step on once in a blue moon or every now and then or it can become a dangerous obsession…..

No more babies... how I feel, how I felt....tips and info

This is going to be a long post and one I have been contemplating writing for a while now.  I was sitting with Jesse in my lap this morning and feeling a bit sad thinking about how fast he is growing and that I will never again be pregnant, feel a baby grow or give birth.

I do not for a second regret the decision to have a hysterectomy, health wise it has probably been the best decision I have ever made, it still makes me sad sometimes though and there are many times when I have asked myself why?

Being the mom of an adhd child is hard being the child who has ADHD even more so

I remember when Loghan was about 18 months old I started to notice that his behaviour was somewhat different to the other kids of his age, he was my first child and I really didn’t know any better so I took it as a sign that he was just a really active inquisitive boy and that as he got older he would learn to control certain actions and reactions.

Sprout Prize and Food Review.

So last week I received an email to let me know that we had won a giveaway from Sprout Food SA!

Sprout is a local company that was started by a fellow mama Liesel and is a company that provides freshly made free range, preservative and hormone free toddler/ finger foods available online to order strait to your door.

In short after having her son she realized how many nasties go into the finger/ toddler foods that retail stores provide for children and through this she decided to work with a local nutritionist to create healthy, nutritious and well balanced meals that provide all the nutrients, colours and textures that growing toddlers thrive off of and need.

Why I am no longer vegatarian.

From the age of 15 to the age of 22 I was a vegetarian well a Pescatarian, I still ate fish and over the last few years a few people have asked me why I decided to go back to being a meat eater and how it fits into me being a Pagan, for some reason most people feel that being Pagan= tree hugging non meat eating animal rights activist/ crunchy mom.

Things can change for the better

After Jesse was born I took a good look at myself in the mirror and didn't like what I saw, I was over weight I had neglected my health, I was literally sick and tired all the time, my skin, my hair everything looked terrible and I was so unhappy within self.

So I decided enough was enough and I made a change. I stopped buying processed crap which surprisingly saved us money, I had my hysterectomy which sorted my hormonal issues out and I started exercising and made a conscious effort to look after my self and my appearance, as a mom of three it was incredibly difficult for me to make time for myself I was so used to throwing on whatever was comfortable throwing my hair in a pony and going without make up etc, but I knew that I couldn't keep going like that for the sake of my kids my marriage and myself I needed to make the effort.

Cosmetic Surgery/ Procedures... thoughts...

Its not that I disagree with cosmetic surgery or procedures, quite frankly each to their own (I have friends with implants that make me want to cry they look so awesome), however I cannot stand it when a women turn to plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery because they feel they are not beautiful or wish they looked differently because of what society has led them to believe.

Low Iron levels suck

This morning I entered my 3rd day of constant nausea, literal waves of nausea that came over me constantly throughout the day, I even had to pull my car over the night before last, now if I still had a uterus that would have sent me running to the pharmacy for a Hpt but as this is impossible well unless it is a tubal it left me rather perplexed that is until this morning...

The harmful ingredients contained in anti-perspirants

So I have mentioned before in a previous post that cancer runs in my family, this has become a worry for me especially as I now have children of my own and I have seen a number of family members pass away from various forms and types of cancer, it is not pretty for the person or their family and I would for obvious reasons prefer not to ever have my family go through that.

Join the party

I’ve been doing a lot of venting on my post lately and I really dislike being so negative so I decided to do a post on something that is helping in in the process of my fitness challenge for the year and that is Zumba Fitness.

Getting Fit

So one of my goals for 2015 was to get fit and tone up.

I am happy with my body right now really happy, I don't think I have been this comfortable in my own skin since well forever with the exception of my pregnancies.

My top 5 Coveted monthly items

When you're a mom, luxuries become sort of non existent or something that comes around every now and then because there just always seems to be something else that is more important or there just isn't money for it so I have made a list of my top 5 guilty pleasures if you want to call them that, this is my must haves when we have a bit of money to spend:

The 'C' word

Today I want to touch on a subject that has caused much sorrow in my life and over the course of last month a very big scare.

I’m talking about Cancer.

what defines good medical care

So after an app with my gynae yesterday we were discussing the difference between good health care and well crap health care.

I feel very privledged to have had access to private hospital and medical care it costs us an arm and a leg every month but it has been well worth it.

A few weeks back a friend of mine gave birth to a gorgeous set of non identical male/ female twins, she gave birth at Somerset a government hospital, 3 of us decided to pay her a visit what a mission to find the hospital but in any case we finally got there and I am going to delve into a few things that I consider constitute crappy health care...
