When the family bed becomes over crowded.

I co slept with Loghan until the age of 18 months on and off… but mostly on especially in his first year as he was a colic baby.

Gabriel was in his own cot from day one and we have co slept with Jesse pretty much since birth because A- he wouldn’t sleep and B- he hated the cot, he wouldn’t sleep due to health issues that a doctor finally diagnosed at a year and we are still co sleeping because he just doesn’t want to leave our bed, which has been fine I love it and so does hubby however we have a double bed which with a toddler included leaves minimal room for us two adults (anyone who co sleeps will understand this never-ending story).

A few nights over the last month or so however we have had a pair of extra feet come creeping into our bed from down the hallway, this pair of feet starts off at the bottom of the bed all innocent and inconspicuous other than the fact that we can’t really stretch out our legs it’s not a problem, however then this pair of feet and the 6 year old monkey that accompanies them moves up and up until he worms himself between Jesse and me, long story short Jesse realizes he is no longer in reach of his mommy or her hair which he loves to hold on to and wakes up very unhappy, Gabriel wakes up very unhappy, my hubby wakes up and tells him to go back to be he gets upset by this time everyone is awake and upset and so the cycle starts again.

Ah mom life….

Co- Sleeping Pros and Cons

I have Co-slept with 2 of my 3 children, I have been told not to many times over that I would never sleep that I was creating bad habits or endangering my child.

My reasonings behind chosing to co sleep or not diffred with each of my boys with Loghan he was prem and strait from the NICU, he was born with underdeveloped lungs and I was a very paranoid mom, I couldn't stand to lay him in his cot and walk away.

Gabriel on the other hand slept through from a very early age and preferred to sleep on his own rather than in our bed so we decided to leave it be as he was happier that way and just slept better.

Jesse on the other hand again had issues with his lungs at birth, he also had terrible colic and reflux and Jaco and I felt uncomfortable leaving him in his cot, he would wake more often and we were constantly checking on him so we just found that we were all happier with co sleeping and he still co sleeps with us now.

co- sleeping, sleeping through and conquering the sleep battle

On Sunday evening, my mom and I were discussing something I cannot remember exactly what but I mentioned Jesse is a restless sleeper at night etc and my mom just about did a double whammy off her chair…

Cosleeping the next extreme sport

I can’t wait for my boys to become teenagers so I can wake them up at the crack of dawn on the weekends as their favourite thing to do is moan during the week that they want to sleep later and then come barging into our room on a Saturday morning saying mommy the sun is up its time to get out of bed ahhhhh how sweet it will be…..

Anybody who has ever co slept with a child or baby at some point or another whether they are sick, mizzy or in general you choose to co-sleep knows what an extreme sport this can be.
