12 Things motherhood has taught me

1. Sleep is sacred

Once you have children sleep becomes a precious commodity gone are the insomnia filled nights or nights of endless partying now I treat every hour of sleep as milestone of achievement.

2. There is no such thing as ME time

Even the bathroom becomes a place where you cannot be alone for 5 seconds without a knock and mommy what are you doing or better yet them just barging in because heaven forbid they cannot do without you for those 2 minutes.

3. cold food/ warm food eh whats the difference

Food is food as long as you get something in your stomach you need to be grateful especially with your 1st baby when you just dont seem to find anytime to make yourself a cup of tea let alone food.

4. coffee is a most prized commodity

I have always loved coffee but now I cannot function without it.

5. your body changes it is inevitable

No matter what you do no matter how well you eat and exercise pregnancy and birth changes your body, I have learnt to accept this as proof of the miracles that are my children.

6. a successful day is one with a hot shower and live children

Especially with several children and a newborn if you can make it through the day with your sanity intact and a hot shower your day has been successful

7. True friends are hard to find

Motherhood changes things and this includes your friends list it shortens dramatically but for the better

8. Advice is given with good intention

Everyone will want to tell you how your child should be raised just learn to smile and say thank you, use don’t use it it is up to you.

9. There is never a perfect time to fall pregnant

No matter how financially stable or ready you are things happen, so don’t wait around for that perfect time you might miss your chance to have the baby you want so desperately.

10. Children are selfish

I know it is harsh but they are a child's natural instinct for the 1st few years is their own preservation so its best to take things with a pinch of salt, like when its 4pm and you haven't even had a cup of tea but they want what they want NOW.

11. motherhood is the most rewarding job in the world

Self explanatory, there is nothing more rewarding than bring a child into the world and watching them grow knowing you are their mother.

12. Motherhood is a journey

It has its ups and downs and there is no manual for it all you can do is give it your all and trust that your children will follow the path you have laid the foundation for.
