Cooking Fun

The boys have been begging me to try out some of the recipes in the cooking Priddy book we received from #kidsbookclub sometime ago. (terrible mom to wait so long I know)

This week has just been terrible and with pay day around the corner I thought it would be nice to try one of them out this weekend, I was browsing through and came across this recipe it looked so yummy I decided to share it with all of you.

Ingredients

100 g castor sugar
75 g soft brown sugar
125 g unsalted butter
2 tsp vanilla essence
150 g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
100 g chocolate chips

Method

Line two trays with grease proof paper

Put the sugar into a large bowl, melt the butter in a saucepan add this to the sugar and mix well

Add the egg and vanilla, then all your dry ingredients and finally throw in your chocolate chips

Spoon out small tsp sizes balls onto the greased tray about 3 cm apart and bake for 19 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Leave to cool and serve

Sounds yum right! Personally I always add something extra to a recipe so I will probably end up adding oats just to make it a bit healthier and add a bit of a crunch, YUM.

This is one of the many great recipes in this book, we have really enjoyed our KidsBookClub goodies.

Win with CrazyMommaofThree and #KidsBookClub

Our family LOVES to read and be read to; every night my kids will beg for another story and another until I cant anymore, but I love the fact that my kids enjoy reading as much as I do, honestly some of my fondest memories and times of childhood involved stories and reading, so it will come as no surprise to anyone that knows us that we have come to love the KidsBookClub subscription service so much.

Books are expensive lets face it and not everyone can afford to buy books for their little ones all the time, the library is great but every home should have a few if not many cherished books to call their own.

Holiday countdown, ideas for mums and bored kiddos

So the Summer holidays are fast approaching and for most of us moms that means 4 weeks of trying to occupy the minds of 1 or more children who are otherwise usually occupied by other people at school or daycare.

Personally I have been trying to get things/ ideas together to keep the boys busy and so I have come up with a few ideas to share.

Night time Antics with #KidsBookClub- Review

If you have been following my blog for a while you will know that last month I had a KidsBookClub giveaway, well I am personally into my second month of my KidsBookClub subscription and I am super impressed.

For anyone new to the idea KidsBookClub is a month subscription service that will send your child 2 books every month for only R149... you heard me R149... its absolute peanuts if you are familiar with the prices of kids books today and yhus far the boys have loved every book.

So like I said every month you receive two age appropriate books as well as 2-4 magazines (for mum and dad) and a themed book bag.

Thus far my favorite theme bag!!!

Our first month we recieved a book on Polar bears which was not only educational but also included some awesome crafts at the end as well as a 5 in 1 magoical stories book which so far has been my personal favorite and this month we recieved a 3 billy goats gruff book and cd as well as a crafts book that is full of awesome activities to do on the weekends and holidays.

The boys love recieving their very own package

Snacks and books too perfect

This months selection

I really am very happy with this subscription so far it really has just added something special to our month and the kids bedtime instead of reading the same things over and over, if you are interested in a subscription or want to know more go on over to their website, and enjoy!

Competition Time with KidsBookClub!

So anyone who knows me knows how much I love to read so it should come as no surprise that I would love to foster the same love for books in my children that my parents did in me whilst growing up.

Unfortunately I have found that at the end of the month there usually isn’t much as far as extra cash is concerned to purchase any  books and although we have quite a substantial collection of kid’s books at home, they have either fallen to pieces from over use and grubby toddler hands or the kids have read them a million times, this means that we end up having to make weekly library trips in order to get new books for the kids to read and although I absolutely love the library and taking the kids, there is often times when the kids develop a strong attachment to a certain book and then unfortunately we have to return them.

So you can only imagine my glee and excitement when I found KidsBookClub…
