Gobsmacked

I have always had a great love for books and have tried to instill the same love with the boys, Loghan in particular has developed a love towards Roald Dahl as two of his past teachers have loved and kept the majority of his books on hand in the classroom.

So I was incredibly disappointed and gobsmacked when he told me this morning that they could no longer read The Witches in class because some parents had issue with it and its subject.

Come on now, seriously????!!!!

Its a book, a much loved children's book that we enjoyed as children as well, I know I did, its fantasy and encourages a child's imagination, there is nothing scary or terrible about it and I think its utter nonsense that someone would not only discourage the reading of such well written and enjoyable book but also teach their children that they should be afraid or should not read a book based on its subject manner and how you may portray it.

It is a pity such a great pity.
