I'm sure you have seen or at least heard of the new trend making the rounds well there are two the first is the non washing or seldom washing of hair and the second is that more and more people are using less soap or soap that contains as little ingredients as possible and washing only the areas that needed making sure not to sit for long periods in soap filled water etc.
This is actually not a new thing and has existed in many cultures spanning over many centuries,as well as in countries with a colder climate.
Basically our hair and skin secrete their own natural oils, when we over wash our hair and laden it with chemicals and silicon, we not only strip our hair of the natural oils and its ability to produce it correctly but we create build up, therefore your hair may appear healthy and beautiful but in actual fact it really isn't and you may find if you leave your hair for even one day it looks dirty, your hair tries to combat all the product on it and may over secrete oils in order to balance it out leaving you with an even bigger problem.
Your skin also secretes oils on its own and when we wash and laden it with chemicals and perfumes it can also do the same thing.
Personally I was raised to wash my hair every single day from childhood, and I found in my teenage years that I always had issues with something, dry scalp, oily roots, dead drab and weak looking hair and no matter what I tried nothing helped, so last year I started using my LUSH shampoo bars and started cutting down on the amount of times I wash my hair, I now wash my hair twice a week and I do not use any heat or styling tools on my hair what so ever, I cannot tell you how much the condition of my hair and scalp has improved as a result, it looks and feels wonderful and is in a better condition than it ever was, I don't know if I would cut down to less than twice a week I only use natural products so I don't get the build up etc that one would with a normal shampoo so for now I am happy, it also saves me time and money.
So am I now saying don't bathe, no not in the least however what I am saying is that especially if you are a woman who suffers from thrush, bladder infections anything of that sort, trash your chemical laden perfumed soap and go and get yourself a glycerine bar or olive oil bar that does not contain any perfumes or parabens, make sure the ingredients list is as short as possible and when you bathe or shower only use the soap on the important areas such as under your arms, down under and of course if you are like me and like to walk bare foot everywhere then your feet, it may sound gross and over crunchy but it really isn't and it makes so much sense when you think about it.
What do you think, I would love to hear your experiences and thoughts
