Feature Friday- Party Playdough

Good Friday everyone it’s that time of the week again, time to feature another wonderful local run business.

This week I’m going to be highlighting Party Playdough which is a Cape Town based business run by Kelly- Ann Gibbon.

I found this business through a local mom site where she was recommended by several other moms, I was looking for party pack alternatives for Jesse’s birthday because let’s face it party packs are usually so expensive and packed with sweets that make the other moms want to cry and are technically money wasted once they are eaten, so when I came across Party Playdough I just thought it was the bee knees of ideas.

How did the idea for Party Playdough come about?

“I am a qualified Oral Hygienist and naturally against sugar, so I'm combating sugary party packs one party at a time!! Why send unhealthy party favors home when you can give them a Play dough tub minus the sugar and tons more fun!”

“My mission is to get kids away from modern electronics and back to basics-using their hands and having great fun! The whole family can get involved!”

Why play dough and how does this help kids?

“I have a Son with a sensory "problem" so it is important for me to emphasize the importance of what play dough can offer, my goal is to introduce play dough at an affordable price for ALL families to afford and experience. The kits encourage kids to develop their gross and fine motor skills by rolling, squishing, cutting and kneading out what- ever their heart desires. TO GET INVOLVED HAVE FUN!”

What sets your business apart from all the others out there?

“As a small Home based business, our product is Handmade with love and care and time is always taken to ensure that its well presented and packaged to your ordered specifics. It’s always important to remember that my Dough is Handmade with Love for your little ones enjoyment, 100% safe and NON toxic. Relax and let the kids have fun!”

Currently there are 2 options available for party packs or favors:


Option 1: R 25 each 

You will get an air tight container containing two coloured play dough balls and wrapped up in a ribbon

Option 2: R 30 each 

You will get an air tight container containing two coloured play dough balls and wrapped up in a ribbon WITH an arty pack attached (tied to the ribbon). The arty pack consists of a shape cutter, 2 brightly coloured sticks and 2 googly eyes.

She also offers a home Play Dough Kit available for purchase at R 160 which makes a lovely gift for another child or as a treat for your own little one.

How can someone order?

1. The date of your party.
2. Which option you want (R25/R30 option)
3. Collection Date (I don't offer deliveries)
4. Colour of your Dough Balls (choose 2 colours) or theme of your party

Please note: Payment latest 10 days before your party/collection date from my home in Monte Vista

If you stay far I can gladly arrange delivery with Postnet at an additional charge, My play dough is made of 100% edible baking ingredients so non toxic to your precious little ones even the glitter I add for sparkle is the edible kind. Collection must be the week of your party from my home in Monte Vista/Goodwood area, Monday-Fridays only, no weekend pick-ups.

I honestly think that this is one of the best business ideas I have ever come across the idea is genius and provides moms with a wonderful alternative especially in today’s world where kids have various allergies and food aversions and where we are always looking for that extra something to make our little ones party special, I know I have especially seen so many woman asking for ideas for 1 year old party favors and this is just perfect and can be made to co ordinate with your chosen party theme what could be better, so go on over like her page and show this awesome momma some love!
